1. Lil Nas X's Satan Sneakers court date turns out to be fictional trailer promoting new single

Lil Nas X was in legal trouble with Nike — well, his Satan Shoes were. But despite his recent talk of heading to court and the trending #FreeLilNasX, he's only heading to fictional jail. The lawsuit that wasn't ended up being an elaborate marketing ploy for his next single, Industry Baby (produced by Kanye West), out July 23. The rapper released a video of a fictionalized trial in which he plays the defendant, both lawyers, the judge, and a juror. That trial didn't go his way and he sentenced himself to 5 years in Montero State Prison, where he'll presumably be in the next video. Fortunately for Lil Nas X, the Nike debacle was settled in April, and today he proved once again he is a social media genius.
