1. Trump vows to quit TPP on first day in office

Donald Trump says the US will quit the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal on his first day in the White House. In a video outlining his plans upon taking office in January, the president-elect also vowed to reduce "job-killing restrictions" on coal production and stop visa abuses, with a policy of "putting America first".

2. Patients may need to show passport to get NHS care

Patients may be required to show their passports to get some NHS care under new rules to prevent so-called "health tourism". Chris Wormald, of the Department of Health, said the controversial move already happened in some trusts and the health service has "a lot further to go" in reclaiming money for treating foreign visitors.

Passport checks planned for NHS patients

3. Russia moves ballistic missiles further west

Russia is deploying short-range ballistic missiles in its Kaliningrad exclave, which borders Poland and Lithuanian. A senior Russian MP said Moscow was to permanently station the nuclear-capable missiles in the area in retaliation for Nato's military build-up in eastern Europe.

4. Jo Cox accused declines to give evidence

Thomas Mair, the man accused of murdering Labour MP Jo Cox, will not to give evidence at his trial. The jury was told the 53-year-old suspect had declined to appear as a witness, and his lawyer Simon Russell Flint, QC, called no evidence on behalf of Mair, who denies murder and other charges including possession of a firearm and GBH.

5. Fall in plastic bags left on beaches after 5p rule

The number of plastic bags littering UK beaches has nearly halved in the last year following the introduction of the 5p levy, according to environmental campaigners. The Marine Conservation Society said its volunteers found just under seven bags per 100 yards of coastline this year compared to 11 in 2015.

6. Six come forward after Andy Woodward revelations

Six more people have come forward following retired footballer Andy Woodward's claim that he was sexual abused from the age of 11 at Crewe Alexandra football club. Woodward said he had been raped on hundreds of occasions and believed many other players had also suffered in silence.

7. Met Office warns of more strong wind and rain to come

Further heavy rain and strong winds are expected in parts of the UK this morning, with forecasters warning the weather will not improve until later in the week. The Met Office says gusts of up to 70mph could damage trees and cause travel disruption. A yellow "be aware" warning for strong winds is in place across parts of the south coast.

8. Trump calls for Farage to be US ambassador

Donald Trump has ruffled diplomatic feathers by tweeting his support for Nigel Farage to become Britain's ambassador to the US. Sir Kim Darroch has held the role since January and Downing Street reacted by saying that there was "no vacancy". However, Farage claimed that the government's "dislike" of him was "getting in the way of the national interest".

9. Rap star Kanye West 'in hospital with exhaustion'

Kanye West has been admitted to hospital just a day after cancelling the rest of his world tour, according to a report in People. The rapper is allegedly being treated for sleep deprivation in Los Angeles after police were called to reports of a disturbance. A source said: "He is exhausted and currently dealing with sleep deprivation."
