German car giant Mercedes has unveiled a coupe version of its GT C sports car and given a facelift to the regular GT and GT S models at the Detroit Motor Show, as the firm celebrates its 50-year partnership with tuning firm AMG.
Under the bonnet, the GT C retains the same 549bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine taken from the roadster. This helps launch the car from zero to 62mph in 3.7secs and on to a top speed of 196mph.

Mercedes-AMG will initially launch the coupe as a limited-run Edition 50. This includes two exclusive paint options with black highlights along the side skirts, front splitter and air vents. Buyers will also get an AMG performance steering wheel and 'Edition' embossed sports seats.
No prices have been confirmed, but prices for the current GT C roadster start at £139,445, so customers can expect the coupe to cost a little less.
AMG GT and GT S facelift
Mercedes-AMG has also introduced a raft of improvements to the entry and mid-level GT models, including several styling tweaks taken from the GT R and more extras available as standard.
GT models will receive the "Panamericana" grille from the firm's GT3 race car, says AutoExpress, which adds that the larger intake will "improve cooling". Like the GT R and GT C, the base model also features the "clever active aerodynamic system" that channels air from the front splitter to the rear diffuser.
Customers can choose from an exterior carbon fibre detailing pack, which uses the lightweight material on the front wings, mirrors, side skirts and rear diffuser. Gloss black detailing is also available on the interior through the optional Night pack, while the performance option adds sports seats and an AMG steering wheel.
Mercedes has yet to give any prices for the new models, but customers can expect them to cost a little more than the £98,195 needed for the current GT and the £111,495 required for the GT S.
