Transfer news and rumours: Cristiano Ronaldo, David De Gea, Riyad Mahrez
The latest deals tipped to take place during the January transfer window
Cristiano Ronaldo: Real Madrid to Manchester United
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo wants to return to Manchester United, says the Daily Mail, citing Spanish newspaper AS. The Portuguese reportedly “feels cheated” that he was not offered a new contract after leading Real to Champions League glory last season and is ready to move back to Old Trafford. Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 matches for United before joining Real for £80m in 2009.

Long-term Real Madrid target David De Gea is to be offered a new contract to stay at Manchester United “for the rest of his career”, the Daily Mirror reports. De Gea’s current deal runs out in 18 months but United will offer the Spanish goalkeeper £250,000 a week to stay at Old Trafford.
Riyad Mahrez: Leicester star to stay
Leicester City manager Claude Puel has confirmed that Riyad Mahrez will not leave the side during the January transfer window - despite interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. Puel told Sky Sports: “He has a fantastic influence on the team, a valuable player for the team. We can see he is enjoying his football and is happy with his teammates and with us. It’s important for us to keep our best players. The good ambition for him is to continue this hard work, to show his consistency game after game, until the end of the season.”
Leon Goretzka: Schalke to Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has denied reports that a deal is already in place to sign Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer. The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is a target for a host of clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern. Rummenigge told Sky Sports that a decision is expected in the next few days. He said: “You only have an agreement when the contract is signed and the player passed the medical tests. We are not that far yet. Now the player has to decide, I heard the decision will be made within the next days, so before the end of January.”
Richarlison: Watford to Arsenal/Chelsea
Arsenal and Chelsea are both chasing Watford forward Richarlison and will attempt to sign the Brazilian during the summer, according to The Sun. Despite not scoring for 12 matches, Richarlison has impressed for the Hornets and is seen as an ideal addition for the London clubs.
Andy Carroll: West Ham to Chelsea
Andy Carroll is still a target for Chelsea, and the London club will “step up their efforts” this week to sign the West Ham striker, The Daily Telegraph reports. Chelsea are interested in signing the former Liverpool and Newcastle striker on loan as they seek to boost their attacking options.
Lucas Moura: Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester United
PSG winger Lucas Moura has admitted that he is likely to leave the French giants. The Brazilian, who is a target for Manchester United, has only played 79 minutes of first-team football this season and wants a move. Quoted by the Daily Express, he said: “I do not think I’m going to stay. Unfortunately, it’s the end for me in Paris. I like the English championship.”
