Lamborghini has released a preview trailer for an upcoming track-only hypercar to rival the likes of the ultra-exclusive Ferrari FXX K and the McLaren Senna GTR.
Although it’s difficult to make out the hypercar’s design in the shadowy trailer, the vehicle appears to share “very little of its profile with the Aventador”, the motoring magazine says. Instead, the SVR features a “wedge shape” front end and a “track-bred rear wing”.

Lamborghini says the upcoming model won’t be eligible for any racing series, nor be run in a one-make championship akin to the Ferrari Challenge. This suggests owners will only be able to drive the car at organised track events.
Track-only hypercars are among the most expensive new cars on sale - and the SVR will be no exception.
Auto Express predicts prices will start at about £2m, putting the new arrival on a par with the Ferrari FXX K when it comes to cost. The SVR will be built in limited numbers, too, adding to its exclusivity.
Fans will need to “squint hard” to see the new car’s form in the preview trailer, says Top Gear, but there are few clues as to the design.
The hypercar appears to sport a large roof scoop, challenging air into the mid-mounted engine to keep it cool, as well as a large front splitter and a short, wedge-shaped bonnet.
Meanwhile, the wing mirrors seem to be placed on stalks that protrude from below the side windows, while small canards above the front wheel arches should help challenge airflow towards the rear of the car.
And there is no missing the SVR’s massive rear wing. It’s a match for the radical wing found on the McLaren Senna GTR, featuring multiple elements to ensure the car generates as much grip as possible at high speeds.
Engine and performance
Given that the SVR will shares its underpinnings with the Aventador, the track-only machine is expected to adopt the supercar’s 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine.
Lamborghini says the engine develops 819bhp, which marks a 60bhp increase over the Aventador’s hardcore SVJ variant, Auto Car reports. The SVR should also get a sequential gearbox and a tweaked version of the road car’s four-wheel drive system.
