Isle of Wight charging points hacked to show porn
And other stories from the stranger side of life
Electric car owners on the Isle of Wight were left agog after public charge points were hacked to show pornography. Screens on devices at the council’s car parks in Ryde, Cowes and Freshwater are supposed to display the council’s own website. But some featured saucy images from a third-party website after hackers accessed the system. An Isle of Wight council spokesperson said he was “saddened” by the incident.
Scientists find remains of dinosaur killed on asteroid day
Scientists have presented a preserved leg of a dinosaur that they believe was killed on the day a giant asteroid struck Earth. The BBC said that to find a dinosaur that died on the day 66 million years ago when the reign of the dinosaurs ended is “extraordinary”. Scientists have also found fish that inhaled impact debris as it rained down from the sky.
Maradona shirt to sell for £4m
The shirt worn by Diego Maradona when he scored his “Hand Of God” goal against England at the 1986 World Cup is set to be sold for £4 million. The garment is being flogged by Steve Hodge, the former England midfielder who swapped shirts with the Argentinian football legend following the World Cup quarter finals match in Mexico. Maradona scored Argentina’s first goal in the match when he knocked the ball past England’s goalkeeper, Peter Shilton, with his hand. He then went on to score a second goal that became known as the “goal of the century”.
