Kellogg's apologises for 'racist' cereal packaging

Cereal manufacturer Kellogg’s has apologised for the apparently “racist” packaging of Corn Pops in the US. Novelist Saladin Ahmed questioned the company over the packaging, which shows yellow Corn Pops characters in a shopping mall, with a single brown-coloured character depicted as a janitor.

Drivers reminded ‘deer can’t read signs’

The Iowa Department of Transport has been forced to launch an education campaign, following a large number of requests from drivers to place warning signs “where it is safer for the deer to cross the road”. In a Facebook post, the department reminded drivers that the deer can’t actually read the signs.

18 months jail for calling police officer ‘vampire’

A 28-year-old Malawi man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison with hard labour after he accused a female police officer of being a “bloodsucker”. The accusation reportedly led to an armed mob forming around the officer, who was rescued from the violence by her landlord.
