A pair of runaway emus have been captured in Galveston, Texas, after escaping from their owner’s backyard. According to local authorities, keeping the large flightless birds is against the law in Galveston, but they are working with the owner who recently inherited the birds when his mother died.
Criminal gang puts bounty on dog’s head
A sniffer dog has had a £25,000 bounty put on its head by a criminal gang, according to Sky News. The spaniel, named Scamp, has detected more than £6m worth of illegal tobacco throughout his career “thanks to his powerful sense of smell and natural hunting instincts”, says the broadcaster.

Snow festival cancelled due to snow
A snow festival in Montreal, Canada, has been cancelled because of a snow storm. Orgnisers say it is the first time in the history of the Festival of Snow that the weather proved to be too much for the celebrations to go ahead. The festival has been rescheduled for next week.
