“The level at Real Madrid is higher than at Chelsea,” sneered the 26-year-old Belgian gloveman. “In training, you see that the level at Real Madrid is high.”

Chip on his shoulder

Courtois moved to the Spanish capital this summer in a £38m deal but clearly insn’t ready to forgive and forget his grudge against Chelsea.

Upon arriving at his new club, he made a point of kissing the Real badge, and a few days later tried to tempt long-term Real target and Belgium teammate Eden Hazard to join him in Madrid, saying such a move would be “fantastic”.

His latest trolling of Chelsea has angered Blues fans, who have expressed their outrage on social media and online message boards, reports the Daily Star.

“This is utterly disrespectful,” fumed one. “You know you probably wouldn’t be who you are now if it wasn’t for Chelsea.”

Shocking start

Courtois has responded with another jibe, sneering: “I am now experiencing on a daily basis that [Sergio] Ramos is the best centre back in the world.”

The Sun points out it might be to the Belgian’s advantage if he focused more on his goal keeping than on winding up Chelsea.

In his Real league debut last Saturday, against Leganes, Courtois conceded a goal from the first shot he faced, when he beaten from the penalty spot.

Belgian whine

The Blues aren’t the first side to fall foul of the bleating Belgian. After he and his teammates had been beaten by France in the semi-final of the World Cup in July, Courtois whined about what he saw as France’s negative tactics.

“France heads a corner and does nothing more than defend,” complained Courtois. “I would have preferred to have lost in the quarter-finals to Brazil, at least that was a team that wanted to play football. [France] are just an anti-football team.”
