Chelsea transfer news: Daniele Rugani, Cesc Fabregas, Leon Bailey
Juventus defender is set for new deal and Fabregas could join AC Milan in January

New deal for Rugani
Chelsea’s hopes of landing Daniele Rugani in the new year are receding. The Sun claims the 23-year-old defender is poised to sign a “lucrative new contract” with Juventus.
Taking its information from the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the tabloid says that the Serie A champions are desperate to keep Rugani after hearing about a “really big” bid from the Blues last month.

Chelsea gaffer Maurizio Sarri was hoping to lure the young blocker to Stamford Bridge, but the Sun says that Juve have no intention of selling Rugani, despite re-signing Leonardo Bonucci from AC Milan.
That leaves Sarri with a headache. According to the Sun, he has little confidence in David Luiz, Gary Cahill or Antonio Rudiger. The paper says the Blues boss may look in January to Kurt Zouma, who’s currently on loan at Everton.
Fabregas eyeing escape
Metro says that AC Milan are “targeting a January swoop” for Cesc Fabregas. The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder, whose chances have been hampered by a knee injury, has yet to impress Sarri. As a result he’s weighing up his options.
Aware of interest from AC Milan, the Spanish ace could accept their offer in January if he still hasn’t won over the boss.
Chelsea would be open to a move rather than see Fabregas leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in June.
Bailey to the Blues?
The German media reports that Chelsea are in “pole position” to sign Leon Bailey in January.
The Bayer Leverkusen winger was linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer. Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool were all apparently tracking the 21-year-old wideman.
Nothing came of the rumours but Football.London says the German press are reporting that Bailey’s “preferred destination” is Chelsea, despite interest from Bayern Munich.
Concrete interest
The German champions are said to have tabled a £53m bid for Bailey in June but he turned down the opportunity to move to Munich.
In conversation with the German outlet Kicker, Bailey admitted there was “concrete interest” from several clubs, but said: “If a club wants me, my management and Bayer will take care of it.”
