Premier League transfer news: Marcus Rashford, Mauro Icardi, Adrien Rabiot
Sky pundit Jamie Carragher believes Rashford may need to quit Man Utd
Premier League transfer news and rumours
Carragher: Rashford may need to leave Old Trafford
Marcus Rashford has impressed on England duty this week, with goals against Spain and Switzerland, but if the young striker is to fulfil his potential then he may have to leave Manchester United.
That’s the verdict of former England and Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, speaking last night on Sky Sports. He believes Rashford, 20, may need to follow the example of Romelu Lukaku - who left Chelsea for Everton before moving to United - because he may not get enough first-team action at Old Trafford.

Carragher said: “Lukaku’s in front of him [at United], I don’t ever see Rashford displacing Lukaku as long as he’s there. Is Rashford good enough to be Man Utd’s centre forward to win the Premier League and Champions League?
“In that position, you’ve got to be world-class.”
Carragher concluded: “Rashford may have to move away to come back to one of the top teams.”
United target Inter duo
The Sun reports that Manchester United are interested in signing Inter Milan stars Mauro Icardi and Milan Skriniar. Argentine striker Icardi has scored 100 goals in 160 Serie A matches for Inter, while Slovakian defender Skriniar impressed in his debut season at the San Siro. But while United may be keen, Italian media is saying Inter want to negotiate new contracts to keep the duo.
Adrien Rabiot: Paris Saint-Germain to Bayern Munich/Chelsea
PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot is one of the most wanted footballers in Europe right now. Out of contract next summer, the 23-year-old has already been linked with Manchester City, Barcelona, Juventus and Liverpool - and today it’s being reported that Bayern Munich and Chelsea have joined the race. Barca want Monreal and Moreno
Barcelona are looking to sign a Spanish left-back, according to Mundo Deportivo, and options include Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal and Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno. However, Sky Sports says that Monreal is in talks with Arsenal over extending his contract at the Emirates.
Lorenzo Insigne: Napoli to Liverpool/Chelsea
Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport says that Lorenzo Insigne’s agent Mino Raiola has agreed a “verbal deal” with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to accept an offer if the club receives a bid of £178m. Insigne is also a target of Liverpool and Chelsea. (Sky Sports)
Boateng phoned Mourinho to explain decision
Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng says he phoned Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho to explain why he was turning down a move to Old Trafford. Speaking to German newspaper Bild, the German international said: “I called Jose Mourinho, I told him that his interest was an honour for me and thanked him for trying so hard for me. I explained to Jose that it’s difficult to leave Bayern, and if I do, everything has to be in place to top this club.”
Overmars: De Jong won’t be leaving Ajax
Ajax Amsterdam sporting director Marc Overmars has warned interested clubs that Frenkie de Jong is not for sale. The 21-year-old is wanted by Barcelona and Tottenham, but Overmars told Spanish newspaper Diario AS: “Barcelona can return in January if they want, but no player will leave.”
