Tottenham transfer news: Harry Kane, Lloyd Kelly, Tonny Vilhena, Toby Alderweireld

Barcelona are so desperate to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane that the Spanish giants are ready to table a “mega £200m deal”.

The Daily Star claims that Barca are “hellbent” on luring the England captain from north London to replace the ageing Luis Suarez. Former Liverpool striker Suarez will turn 32 in January.

Barcelona need a new world-class marksman and the Star says that Kane is “first choice on their shortlist”. The Catalan club will see Kane up close and personal in the Champions League tomorrow night at the Camp Nou, and the Star believes that Spurs will be ready to listen to what they have to say.

Why? Because the “spiralling costs” of their new stadium have left Tottenham alarmingly short of transfer funds. The prospect of making £200m on Kane would be very tough to turn down.

The Star says that Kane, who is 25, is aware of the rumours. A top performance at the Camp Nou this week “will only crank up that interest”.

Courting Kelly

Tottenham are “tracking” highly-rated Bristol City defender Lloyd Kelly, reports the Daily Mirror, but they’re likely to face competition from Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

The quartet of Premier League powerhouses have been drawn to the England Under-21 international after a string of consistent performances that earned him a call-up to train with Gareth Southgate’s senior Three Lions squad earlier this season.

The Mirror says that the 20-year-old’s composed displays have “alerted scouts at top clubs” but Tottenham are reportedly leading the charge for the Championship blocker. They are ready to move “when the transfer window opens next month”.

Vilhena on the radar

Another player on Tottenham’s radar is Feyenoord and Netherlands midfielder Tonny Vilhena.

Football.London, citing the Italian outlet Calciomercato, reports that Roma are also tracking the 23-year-old playmaker. They are hoping to seal the deal by selling Rick Karsdorp to Feyenoord.

As for Spurs, apparently Vilhena is seen as a suitable replacement for Moussa Dembele if he decides to leave when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Green light for Alderweireld

Has Jose Mourinho finally got his man? Yes, says The Sun, which reports that the Special One has been told by Manchester United that he can “sign a defender next month”.

Mourinho’s inability to do so in the summer caused tension at Old Trafford, but the board has now relented. The Sun claims that Toby Alderweireld is again “the No.1 target”.

It will cost United around £40m to sign the 29-year-old Belgian but that isn’t a problem for the club. A bid will be tabled to Tottenham next month.
