Leave it to the state of Florida to produce a story like this: Police say a man posing as an officer was busted after activating illegal police lights on his car, allegedly in an attempt to pull over a real detective.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said Det. Chance Anderson drove by 20-year-old Matthew Michael Lee McMahon on a St. Augustine highway in an unmarked vehicle. McMahon activated his lights and forced the real detective to pull over.

Anderson, who works catching police impersonators, said this is the first time he's caught someone doing something so brazen. McMahon was charged with impersonating a police officer and displaying blue lights. He was released Tuesday after paying a $5,500 bail.
