Gigaom has shut down suddenly, unable to pay creditors

If you visit Gigaom, there are articles about the Apple Watch, the new HBO streaming service through Apple TV, and other news of the day — and a note informing readers that the popular tech site "recently became unable to pay its creditors in full at this time" and "all operations have ceased."

Gigaom was launched in 2006 by Om Malik, who left the company last year. More than six million people visited the site each month, the Los Angeles Times reports, and all of its staff and writers are now out of a job. The company does not plan to file for bankruptcy protection, and says it has no idea what its creditors plan to do with its assets.
