Muslim woman ejected from Donald Trump rally after silently protesting anti-Islamic rhetoric

A Muslim woman wearing a hijab was removed from a Donald Trump rally in South Carolina on Friday, CNN reports.

When the Republican presidential hopeful said Syrian refugees "probably are ISIS," Rose Hamid and a few other people silently stood, sporting badges made to look like the stars worn by Jewish people during the Holocaust. The crowd chanted "Trump!" as Hamid and others were escorted out.

She said though supporters sitting by her were apologetic, others shouted and booed at her.

"This demonstrates how when you start dehumanizing the other it can turn people into very hateful, ugly people," Hamid said. "It needs to be known."

Trump, who has called for a "complete shutdown" of Muslim people entering the U.S., continued his line of anti-Muslim rhetoric Friday.

"There is hatred against us that is unbelievable," Trump said after Hamid left. "It's their hatred, it's not our hatred."
