Five arrests have been made in connection with the escape of three inmates from the Orange County Central Men's Jail in Santa Ana, California, on Friday.
Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens did not describe the connection between the inmates and those who have been arrested, but said authorities are going after area gang members, ABC 7 reports.
The inmates — Bac Duong, 43; Hossein Nayeri, 37; and Jonathan Tieu, 20 — were all awaiting trial for violent crimes, including torture and murder, when they escaped sometime on Friday. They were last accounted for at 5 a.m., and were reported missing 16 hours later. Sheriff's deputies have served at least 30 warrants in connection to the escape, ABC 7 reports, and a $200,000 reward is being offered for information leading to their arrests.
