Taylor Swift reserved a line of her Grammy acceptance speech Monday night for firing back at Kanye West. While Swift didn't use Kanye's name while accepting her album of the year award for 1989, her reference to the stars' recent feud over West's song "Famous," which claims credit for making Swift famous, was unmistakable.
"I want to say to all the young women out there: There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world. Thank you for this moment." [The Washington Post]
As a refresher, West's lyrics are: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that b---h famous." West claims that he ran the "Famous" lyric by Swift ahead of time and that the line actually originated from Swift, both of which Swift denies.
