Steve Martin really, really didn't want to go on Monday's Tonight Show

Steve Martin, fearing that he has nothing interesting left to talk about, decided that instead of chatting with Jimmy Fallon on Monday's Tonight Show, he'd sit backstage, make up a song, and stall coming out. "I used up all my stories when I was in my forties," the 70-year-old sang, "but now I'm 52 years old and I don't want to do this show." The only reason why he even agreed to go on was because he didn't think Feb. 29 existed ("Damn you, Leap Year!"), but it does, and Martin knew he couldn't stall any longer after having a Tonight Show staffer literally slap some sense into him.
