Today is the biggest day of the 2016 presidential primary season, with votes in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wyoming, and American Samoa. Most states will close their polls at 7 or 8 p.m. ET, though several caucuses won't begin until 9 p.m. ET or later. While Donald Trump is expected to dominate on the GOP side, there could be competition with Ted Cruz in Texas; Minnesota is the only state Marco Rubio appears to have any chance of winning. Hillary Clinton is also expected to make large gains today, with Bernie Sanders eyeing Massachusetts as a need-to-win.
Republicans are voting for about half of the 1,237 delegates needed for the nomination; Democrats are after 800 delegates, or about a third of what is needed for victory.
