Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning told his team Saturday night of his plans to retire after 18 seasons in the National Football League, sources told ESPN and The Associated Press on Sunday.
Manning won Super Bowl 50 in February despite a lackluster performance. In 2007, he won Super Bowl XLI as quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, where he spent most of his professional career. He is the league's all-time leader in passing touchdowns and passing yards.
The five-time MVP is expected to formally announce his decision in a news conference Monday.
