Harry Reid accuses Mitch McConnell of enabling Donald Trump's rise

In Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) opinion, no one person is more responsible for the rise of Donald Trump than Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). "He, more than any other one person, is responsible for Donald Trump," the Nevada senator told Politico in an interview published Thursday. Reid pointed specifically to McConnell's recent remark that Trump would be "just fine" as president as evidence that the two are "cuddled up together."
Reid's attacks are all part of a larger plan to return the Senate to the Democratic Party's control. Since it's past the point of convincing the public that Trump is a bad idea, Politico reports that Reid is instead planning to make Senate Republicans "eat Trump's endless stream of divisive statements." "It's easy to do," Reid said. "The Senate leadership is enthralled by Trump. 'He's the guy. He's going to carry on the standards of the Republican Party.' Wow."
"My job is to tell the people that Mitch McConnell is one of the reasons we have Trump. ... Everything that Trump is, McConnell led the charge," Reid said.
