Did Amy Schumer just quit her Comedy Central show?

Well, that's one way to break news. On Wednesday, Amy Schumer tweeted that she is "so saddened and disappointed in Kurt Metzger," a friend and writer on her hit Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer. Metzger has been facing criticism over comments he made on Twitter and Facebook about rape allegations against a fellow comedian and the Upright Comedy Brigade's decision to ban him, and Schumer had been criticized for keeping silent. A few hours later, she tweeted: "Kurt does not work for me. He is not a writer on my show. Please stop asking me about it." Then, late Wednesday night, she said this:
That's news. Inside Amy Schumer just wrapped its fourth season in June, and was upped for a fifth season in January. Comedy Central didn't respond to requests for clarification by Variety and USA Today. But as USA Today notes, if the show has been axed, that "may not be as shocking as it sounds, given Schumer's busy schedule as of late." Along with a burgeoning movie career, Schumer has a lucrative new hot-selling book out. Who needs the rigors of scripted sketch comedy when you have royalties?
