Donald Trump has sunk to an 8-point deficit against Hillary Clinton in the latest national poll amid announcements of massive campaign staff reshuffling. Reuters/Ipsos found that between Aug. 14 and Aug. 18, 42 percent of Americans supported Clinton for president, with only 34 percent saying they would vote for Trump. Twenty-three percent of voters said they would not pick either candidate in November.
By comparison, at this point in the campaign in 2012, President Barack Obama was less than 2 points ahead of Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
Since late July, Clinton has fluctuated between holding the support of 41 and 44 percent of likely voters. Trump's support has been as high as 39 percent, and as low as 34 percent in the Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The poll was conducted online in English in every state, reaching 1,118 likely voters. Its margin of error is 3 points.
