New poll shows Trump with 5-point lead in Ohio

Donald Trump has claimed the lead in the battleground state of Ohio. A new Bloomberg Politics poll out Wednesday revealed that Trump holds a 5-point lead over Hillary Clinton in the Rust Belt state, 48 percent to 43 percent. Trump's lead holds firm when third-party candidates are added to the mix, with Trump claiming 44 percent to Clinton's 39 percent. Bloomberg reported that Ohio has "backed the winning presidential candidate in every election since 1964."
The poll was taken over the weekend — a particularly rough stretch for the Clinton campaign. On Friday, Clinton fired up critics when she said half of Trump's supporters are a "basket of deplorables." Then, on Sunday, she abruptly left a 9/11 event. Her campaign announced later that day she'd been diagnosed with pneumonia, stoking concerns about both her transparency and her health.
The poll, which surveyed 802 likely Ohio voters, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
