Pakistan's Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal was wounded on Sunday after he was shot while leaving a public meeting, government officials said.
The 22-year-old suspected gunman shot Iqbal at close range as he returned to his car, police said, and was immediately arrested. Iqbal was hit in the shoulder, and is recovering. The suspect's motivation is unknown.
Parliamentary elections are scheduled for July in Pakistan, and Iqbal was in Punjab province trying to gain support for his re-election.
