Trump-Kim Summit

Trump was so excited to meet Kim Jong Un he didn't sleep for 25 hours

In his post-summit glow, President Trump has been controversially riffing on everything from his former "little rocket man" comments to South Korea's "war games."

But maybe some of the blame for his odd comments about North Korea's beaches can be placed on sleep deprivation. Trump told reporters that he hadn't slept in 25 hours.

Early Tuesday morning, Trump was discussing the result of his historic summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un. He defended himself against critics who said that the summit hadn't produced any tangible results or steps toward denuclearization, arguing that he hadn't conceded anything to Kim.

"I gave up nothing," he said. "I'm here. I haven't slept in 25 hours, but I thought it was appropriate to do."

Given the president's sudden decision to call Kim a "great personality" who "loves his people" in spite of his country's human rights violations, maybe he could use a nap.
