Sarah Palin apparently was not invited to John McCain's funeral
Sarah Palin, John McCain's running mate during the 2008 presidential election, was not invited to any of the late senator's memorial services, People reports.
McCain died Saturday from brain cancer at age 81. Longtime McCain family friend Carla Eudy confirmed to People that "invitations were not extended" to Palin or President Trump. Eudy, a fundraiser, helped plan the services, and also recently cut several McCain staffers from the invite list, People reports. She did not say who asked that their names be removed, or why.
"Donald Trump and Sarah Palin were not served official notice outright," a McCain family friend told People. "I want to make that clear. It wasn't a no-trespass order. They won't be turned away by guards if they show up at the funeral." Palin was told by an intermediary not to attend any of the memorials, which one person who knew both McCain and the former Alaska governor said was "sad" because "they had a good friendship." After McCain died, Palin released a statement saying he was "a maverick and a fighter, never afraid to stand for his beliefs."
