If it ain't broke, don't fix it — but if you don't like it, shoot it.
Sen. Joe Manchin's (D-W.Va.) campaign is sticking with a tried-and-true strategy in a new ad released Monday — taking a shot at a lawsuit from his opponent to show just how much he disagrees.
Manchin, who is running against West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R), revived his own viral 2010 ad, in which he was filmed shooting a climate change bill he disliked. This time, he's reassuring his constituents that he wants to retain the Affordable Care Act's protection of pre-existing conditions.
"Hey, I haven't changed," Manchin tells the camera after replaying footage from 2010, "I might be a few years older, but I'll still take on anyone that messes with West Virginia."
With a guitar twanging in the background, Manchin tells voters that the new threat is a lawsuit that Morrisey joined that would dismantle elements of the ACA. "He is just dead wrong," says Manchin, pulling the trigger. Watch the ad below. Summer Meza
