As embattled Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh inches towards confirmation, one Fox News host is breaking out the Jesus comparisons.
While speaking about the confirmation process Thursday, The Five co-host Greg Gutfeld said the way Democrats have treated Kavanaugh reminds him a lot of the Bible. Crucifixion, he said, "was an important event because it was designed to establish a wall between justice and mob rule," and "Christ died so that the mob wouldn't survive." Now, he argued, the Democrats have tried to "tear down the wall between justice and mob rule," deciding to "crucify someone once again."
These comments came as Democrats reviewed the FBI's supplemental background investigation into Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women and denies the allegations. Juan Williams was the sole member of The Five's panel who suggested the FBI's report was not thorough enough, and he seemed quite baffled by Gutfeld's analogy. Kavanaugh's confirmation chances now appear to have been resurrected after previously being thought dead, though, so perhaps the Jesus comparison isn't actually that far off.
