Rudy Giuliani endorses man who isn't running for Michigan Senate seat

Rudy Giuliani really wants Don James to win Michigan's Senate race. Too bad there's no Don in the running.
The former New York mayor and current lawyer for President Trump tweeted a glowing endorsement for "Don James" on Friday, saying the candidate is "the future of our party."
In a reply, ABC News' Matthew Dowd questioned why Giuliani was endorsing the former University of Washington football coach, seeing as this is Michigan and that Don James is, well, deceased. But Giuliani's characterization of James as a "combat veteran" and "successful businessman" sounds like he's describing John James, a Republican who is running for Sen. Debbie Stabenow's (D-Mich.) seat. The real James expertly rolled with the gaffe, happily accepting the endorsement from "Randy" in his tweeted reply.

Giuliani also corrected his mistake, hopefully saving the real James from losing votes to an imaginary write-in.
