Ariana Grande reportedly donates Georgia concert proceeds to Planned Parenthood
Ariana Grande has reportedly donated the proceeds from her recent Atlanta concert to Planned Parenthood amid controversy over the state's new abortion law.
Grande performed in Atlanta on June 8, then made a donation of roughly $250,000 to Planned Parenthood, People reported on Wednesday. Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Leana Wen thanked the pop star in a statement for her "generous donation" and said that "thanks to inspiring support like hers, Planned Parenthood can continue to fight back" in court.
Georgia's governor signed into law a bill banning most abortions after a fetal "heartbeat" can be detected, which can occur at six weeks. It's one of several restrictive new abortion laws recently passed around the country and has drawn opposition from Hollywood, especially in the film industry, as Georgia is a major production hub due to its generous tax incentives.

Disney and Netflix are among the companies that have said they'll reconsider their business in the state should its abortion law go into effect in 2020. Some film and television projects have already pulled out of Georgia over the law, including an upcoming Kristen Wiig comedy. Other projects have remained in the state but with those involved pledging to donate their fees, with J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele doing so with their show Lovecraft Country.
Grande has not commented on this donation but has previously supported Planned Parenthood, using the hashtag #standwithPP in a 2015 tweet while writing, "Women need to be educated, healthy, and empowered."
