President Trump is only focused on the very immediate future.
On Friday, Trump called into his favorite morning show Fox & Friends and was pretty forthcoming about how much foreign help he'd accept in an election. But he was less blatant about elections after his time in office. When hosts asked if he'd endorse his Vice President Mike Pence for president if Pence ran in 2024, Trump sidestepped and said it's "far too early" to make that determination, but added that "would give it strong consideration."
Of course, former President Barack Obama hasn't endorsed his Vice President Joe Biden in the far-more-immediate 2020 race. Biden claims it's because he asked Obama not to endorse him, but Obama's confidantes assert the ex-president made that decision on his own.
