Jimmy Carter is heading home for Thanksgiving after a successful brain surgery

Former President Jimmy Carter is headed home for Thanksgiving.

Carter, who earlier this month underwent a procedure to "relieve pressure on his brain, caused by bleeding due to his recent falls," has been released from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, the Carter Center announced Wednesday.

Having turned 95 last month, Carter is the oldest living ex-president ever. He was admitted to the hospital for his surgery on Nov. 11, CNN reports, and the Carter Center says he will continue to recover while going home to Plains, Georgia, to celebrate Thanksgiving.
