In the past, President Trump has called out NFL players for staging protests before games by kneeling during the national anthem. He even pondered when owners might start releasing players who don't respect the flag. So it's worth asking if the president gave himself a stern talking to Sunday evening after the Super Bowl. The Miami Herald on Monday came across a video posted to Instagram from the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where a lot of people, including Trump and his family, were gathered for the big game.
Trump can be seen in the short video, which was filmed during the national anthem. While everyone else in the shot is standing attentively, Trump appears restless and even pretends to conduct a band (the Herald notes it's unclear if the anthem that can be heard is the one sung by Demi Lovato from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami or if there was a performer at the party), while pointing around the room.
Observers had harsh words for Jay-Z and Beyoncé, who were at the game, over their choice to remain seated during the anthem, but they've yet to comment on the president's own behavior during the Star Spangled Banner. Read more and watch the video at The Miami Herald.
