Champions Tennis returns to the Royal Albert Hall

Champions Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall is probably one of the most breathtaking tennis events of the year. The unique four-day tennis event played in the iconic Royal Albert Hall is fun, exciting and truly memorable.

A venue like no other, the traditional concert hall is the perfect arena to be close up to the action – an entertaining atmosphere mixed with unparalleled tennis, a really unique experience for all.

The event in its 23 years has played host to some of the world’s most legendary tennis players. The inaugural event in 1997 saw an iconic rematch between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe and many more tennis heroes have stepped out onto the iconic court including Pete Sampras, Pat Rafter, Marat Safin, Goran Ivanisevic and Andy Roddick.

To qualify for the event players have to have been a previous Grand Slam Champion, World No.1 or been part of a winning Davis Cup team. Whilst the crowds are treated to high quality tennis in a breath-taking environment, players also feel privileged to play in such a unique and atmospheric arena.

2019 is set to be the most competitive field in the events history, owing to debuts from newly retired Marcos Baghdatis and David Ferrer joining Juan Carlos Ferrero, Tommy Haas, Goran Ivanisevic, Mark Philippoussis and Xavier Malisse. 2019 introduces a new team format with Greg Rusedski, Tim Henman and Goran Ivanisevic stepping up as team captains, they will each then be joined by two other legends.

The team with the most wins will then be crowned champions following the ATP Champions Tour Final on the Sunday night. Each day will be comprised of an afternoon and an evening session – with four matches per session; two competitive singles matches, one competitive doubles match and an entertaining exhibition doubles match.

The event won’t be lacking in entertainment with Mansour Bahrami back in action with trick shots and comic timing – he is one not to miss. Martina Hingis and Heather Watson are also on the order of play on Friday and Saturday sessions for some mixed doubles.

The event runs from Thursday 28 November until Sunday 1 December with each day comprising an afternoon and an evening session.
