DRUMMER LEE RIGBY died of "multiple" stab wounds after being run over and then attacked in the street by two alleged Islamic extremists, a post-mortem has found. Meanwhile, counter-terror police are preparing to question suspect Michael Adebowale, 22, who was discharged from hospital yesterday. These are the latest developments:
Post-mortem: The findings of Lee Rigby's post-mortem were made public today. He died of "multiple incised wounds" which means it is likely he was not killed when he was run down by the suspects' car, but died from wounds inflicted by what passers-by described as knives and a machete.
Police want more information: The Met police have made a fresh appeal for information about the killing of Lee Rigby as he walked back to the Woolwich Barracks last Wednesday. The BBC reports that Commander Simon Letchford said officers want to hear from any witnesses who might have videoed the attack - and from anyone with any information about its planning. An inquest into the 25-year-old soldier's death will open this Friday.

Suspect's family shame: The family of Michael Adebolajo, who was filmed boasting of killing Rigby last Wednesday, have released a statement talking of their profound shame and distress at the soldier's brutal death. "We wholeheartedly condemn all those who engage in acts of terror and fully reject any suggestion by them that religion or politics can justify this kind of violence." Adebolajo, 28, remains in hospital.
Adebowale to be questioned: Michael Adebowale, the younger of the two suspects, both of whom were shot by police at the scene of Rigby's killing, was discharged from hospital yesterday. He is in custody in a south London police station waiting to be questioned by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, The Guardian reports.
French copycat attack? A man arrested in relation to the stabbing of a French soldier in Paris on Saturday is a "Muslim convert" who was probably acting in accordance with his religious beliefs, a French prosecutor told journalists today. He said the Paris suspect was captured by a surveillance camera "saying a Muslim prayer" minutes before the attack. The soldier has been released from hospital and rejoined his unit.
