Roach 'attacked woman on university grounds'
A university in Washington DC is being sued by a former IT worker who says she was attacked by a giant cockroach while in a lift. The lawsuit claims the roach slashed the woman's cornea and left one of its legs embedded in her eye. The worker is claiming lost wages and medical expenses from Howard University, which has had problems with cockroaches for several years.

Small girl catches huge snake
The parents of a small girl were shocked when she "fearlessly" picked up a snake during a visit to Michigan's Beaver Island. Footage shot by the girl's uncle shows her saying: "Look what I found," before holding up a serpent as long as she is tall. She then released the snake without further incident.
Priest punches best man at wedding
A priest is under investigation after an alleged assault on the best man during a wedding in Cyprus. Relatives say the victim was slapping the groom on the back during the ceremony, an old Cypriot wedding custom, when the cleric signalled to him to stop. The best man continued and the priest "became enraged", punching him in the chest and face. The ceremony was abandoned after the clergyman fled the church.
