Known for its green spaces and excellent museums, Norway's capital remains something of a hidden gem. Its main draw is "its proximity to nature," says Lonely Planet with the city's "many parks and surrounding countryside offering ample opportunities for hiking, cycling, skiing and boating."
Urban explorers will love Oslo's lively bars, cosy cafes and eclectic restaurants.
Prices start at £225 (including flights) for two adults sharing for three nights in a three-star hotel, departing on 26 May.
Brussels
While the home of the European Union may be political poison right now, as a tourist destination the city is a far cry from its stereotype as a boring bureaucratic bubble.
Modern, thrusting and perhaps a little soulless? "Brussels is none of these things" says the Daily Telegraph, but rather "a city on an eminently manageable scale, in touch with its medieval origins, and tweaked by its own distinct, rough-edged character and bubbling conviviality".
Prices start at £183 (including flights) for two adults sharing for three nights in a three-star hotel, departing on 26 May.
Prague
Prague has seen one of the most compelling transformations in Europe over the past 30 years. Gleaming, glitzy buildings and shops rub shoulders with the city's fabulously restored Baroque architecture and the cobbled lanes of the Old Town.
Culture, high and low, is at every point of the compass. North of the centre, the national museum of 19th and 20th-century art at the Veletrzni Palace "is full of surprises", says The Times.
To the south, MeetFactory is one of the best music venues in eastern Europe, the paper says.
Prices start at £335 (excluding flights) for two adults sharing for three nights in a three-star hotel, departing on 26 May.
Bristol
Recently named Britain's best place to live, the west country hotspot offers the perfect mix of upmarket sheen and counter-cultural camaraderie.
The Sunday Times praises Bristol for being "handily placed for seaside and scenery" but "hardly cut off". The paper's home editor Helen Davies summed up the city as "cool, classy and supremely creative", making it the perfect place to explore this spring bank holiday weekend.
Hotels start at £300 for two adults sharing for three nights in a four-star hotel. Train tickets are available for £50 return.
Las Vegas
For those looking for a bit of excitement from their bank holiday weekend and a chance to win back the cost of the flights, Las Vegas is the perfect destination.
Filled with glitz and glamour, Vegas also provides a historical backdrop to the excesses of the American dream. Each hotel has its own theme: the Venetian comes replete with its own canal while the Paris contains a near lifelike replica of the Eiffel Tower.
Travellers can sample the delights of Vegas's numerous casinos before relaxing in the ever-expanding number of restaurants on the famous strip.
Prices start at £550 (excluding flights) for two adults sharing for three nights in a three-star hotel, departing on 26 May.
