1. Chelsea inflict more Anfield woe on Liverpool

In his five years as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken the Reds to many highs by winning the Champions League and Premier League titles.

Now his tenure has reached a new low after the defending champions lost their fifth home match in a row - a first in the Anfield club’s history. Before their 1-0 loss to Burnley on 21 January, Liverpool had been on a 68-game unbeaten home run in the Premier League.

On Thursday night Mason Mount’s 42nd-minute goal secured the 1-0 win for Chelsea and moved Thomas Tuchel’s team into the top four. The defeat leaves Liverpool in seventh place and Klopp says it has inflicted a “massive blow” on their hopes of securing Champions League football next season.

“It is not done yet, but we don’t have to talk about [it] if you lose that many games, you don’t have the right to go to the Champions League,” Klopp told Sky Sports. “We won’t blame the circumstances. There is only one person to criticise. That is me and us. That is what I told the boys.”

2. Woods ‘could not remember driving’

After his crash in California last week Tiger Woods told authorities that he could not remember driving and he did not know how the collision happened, USA Today has revealed.

A copy of the search warrant affidavit obtained by the paper said: “The deputies asked him how the collision occurred. Driver said he did not know and did not even remember driving... Driver was treated for his injuries at the hospital and was asked there again how the collision occurred. He repeated that he did not know and did not remember driving.”

3. England seal T20 series win in New Zealand

England have secured the Twenty20 series win over New Zealand with a game to spare. Freya Davies took a career-best 4-23 after New Zealand were restricted to 123-9. In reply Tammy Beaumont hit 63 as England reached 124-4 in 17.2 overs.

The six-wicket victory means England have “extended their winning run in completed T20s to ten games”, the BBC reports. The final match of the series will be played on Sunday in Wellington.

4. Wales scrum-half Kieran Hardy ruled out of final Six Nations games

Wales will be without Kieran Hardy for the final two rounds of the Six Nations after the scrum-half injured a hamstring in the victory against England last weekend.

Attack coach Stephen Jones told BBC Sport Wales: “It’s unfortunate for Kieran after a wonderful performance against England. He’s worked particularly hard to improve aspects of his game, he’s a very fit guy and we thought his performance was excellent, so it’s unfortunate he’s not in a position to back that up.”

Topping the table with three wins out of three, Wales travel to Italy on 13 March before finishing the tournament with a clash against France in Paris on 20 March.

5. Brady rookie card sells for record $1.32m

The sports memorabilia market has seen a record purchase after an autographed rookie card featuring NFL quarterback Tom Brady sold for $1.32m (£952,822) on PWCC Marketplace.

Purchased by collector and long-time Brady fan James Park, the 2000 Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket card was graded an eight and the signature was graded a ten. The $1.32m price tag “is believed to be the highest price paid for a football card, eclipsing the previous record by nearly $500,000 (£360,917)”, said ESPN.
