Today’s back pages: ‘To infinity and beyond’ - Spurs have Euro buzz
A round up of the sport headlines from UK newspapers on 30 April
Sometimes it only takes one small soundbite to decide what the headline should be. So when Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino channelled his inner-Buzz Lightyear sports desks across the country were busy to get the (Toy) story on their back pages.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Ajax the Spurs manager quoted Toy Story character Lightyear to urge his team to continue their dream run in Europe.
“You need to set your dreams to infinity and beyond,” said Pochettino and the newspapers have jumped on his soundbite for today’s back pages.

The Daily Mirror has quoted Spurs Lightyear’s rallying call while The Sun goes with “joy story”. Spurs are “buzzing” says the Daily Express and the Daily Star reports that “Poch has got Euro buzz”.
‘Betrayed’
Alex Hales’s dropping from the England Cricket World Cup squad also makes the headlines. The 30-year-old has reportedly failed a second drugs test and has been ditched from England’s World Cup plans.
However, the Daily Mail reports that Hales was assured it would not stop him from playing and he says he has been “betrayed” by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The Guardian also leads with Hales’s World Cup dreams being over and English cricket’s governing body being accused of breaking its promise.
