It’s a must-win match in Holland for Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side
PSV Eindhoven vs. Tottenham
- What: Champions League group B
- When: Wednesday 24 October
- Where: Philips Stadion, Eindhoven, Netherlands
- Kick-off: 5.55pm (UK time)
- TV channel: live on BT Sport 3
With two defeats from their opening two Champions League group B matches, Tottenham travel to the Netherlands tonight knowing that they must win against PSV Eindhoven if they stand a chance of qualifying for the last 16.
Spurs are bottom of group B with no points following the losses against Inter Milan and Barcelona. Dutch side PSV are also on zero points while Barca and Inter have six each.
Speaking ahead of the clash against PSV, which kicks off at 5.55pm, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said: “Both teams need to win, so it will be a great game. For us it’s a game where we need to get the three points and we need to play thinking like that, and if we want to be alive in this competition. My approach is always to win.”

PSV boss Mark van Bommel added: “Winning means you are still in the group, but if you lose it’s almost over. Spurs have a lot of quality players and weapons to win games, but we have that also.”
In tonight’s other group B clash Barcelona take on Inter Milan at the Camp Nou (8pm, live on BT Sport ESPN). Barca will be without Lionel Messi after the Argentine No.10 suffered an arm injury in the weekend win against Sevilla.
Team news and starting XIs
The BBC reports that Spurs will be without midfielder Dele Alli and defenders Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen for tonight’s crucial clash against PSV. Alli and Vertonghen have hamstring issues while Rose has a groin injury.

Ryan Thomas is the only player missing for PSV. The New Zealand midfielder is ruled out for the rest of the season with a long-term knee injury.
