England vs. India: Ben Stokes to join Test squad after not guilty verdict
All-rounder Stokes was cleared of affray at Bristol Crown Court
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that Ben Stokes will join the England squad for the third Test match against India.
All-rounder Stokes was today found not guilty of affray at the Bristol Crown Court trial and the ECB says he is now available for the clash at Trent Bridge starting on Saturday.
Stokes missed the second Test victory at Lord’s - which gave Joe Root’s side a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. He and England teammate Alex Hales will now, however, have to face a Cricket Discipline Commission following the incident in Bristol last September.

In a statement, the ECB said: “Now that the legal proceedings have concluded, the disciplinary process for Ben Stokes and Alex Hales can be scheduled by the Cricket Discipline Commission.
“Ben Stokes will now join the England squad for the third Specsavers Test against India, which starts at Trent Bridge on Saturday.
“Considerable detail has been heard in this week-long court case and, in due course, there will be a range of matters for the Board to fully consider.”
