Today’s front pages: climate warning, slavery links and BBC blunder

The Independent gives its front page over to a stark warning from cross-party group of MPs who compared global warming to the fight against the Nazis, and urged Theresa May against a policy of “climate appeasement” and put the country on a “war footing”.

The Times focuses on the news that the University of Cambridge is to investigate its historical links to slavery, while Metro leads with an interview with the parents of Mariam Moustafa, the 18-year-old Egyptian student who died after being attacked by a gang of girls in Nottingham.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail follows up on yesterday’s news that police were telling rape victims to hand over their mobile phones for examination or risk the collapse of their case, with today’s headline repeating critics’ claims that the practice is a ‘licence to let rapists walk free’.
