Paris Games Week kicked off with Sony’s PlayStation conference on Monday evening, where the tech giant announced a host of new titles for PlayStation 4 players.
During the two-hour event, the company revealed new trailers for upcoming titles including a sequel to a popular 2D platformer and a story expansion for one of this year’s most critically acclaimed games.
Here are five of the key announcements.

Spelunky 2
A sequel to the popular, yet challenging, Spelunky side-scrolling 2D adventure game was announced in Paris.
The game, which doesn’t yet have a release date, features “a new hero” and, potentially, a new setting, reports Digital Trends. Gameplay details have yet to be announced, but, like the original, it is expected to feature levels that are procedurally generated, meaning it builds itself, the site adds.
Detroit: Become Human
A longer, story-focused trailer for Detroit: Become Human was revealed that appears to explore themes such as domestic violence and the relationship between humans and robots.
Developed by Quantic Dream, the studio behind titles including Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, Become Human follows the story of a robot maid who is placed in a home with what appears to be a single father and his daughter. Players can choose different paths along the story, and the narrative can be drastically changed by the decisions you make.
The game is set to launch next spring, says Engadget, and will be available exclusively for the PS4.
Erica
Erica is an upcoming cooperative title that utilises Sony’s PlayLink multiplayer platform, reports Tech Radar.
It sees gamers “team up on their mobiles” with other players in the same room to “solve a murder mystery” in a manner much like an interactive movie, the site adds. There’s no word on a release date, but Sony did provide a teaser trailer.
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds
Horizon Zero Dawn, the critically acclaimed open-world adventure game revolving around a young hunter called Aloy, gets its first major expansion next week, says Gamespot. The add-on pits players against giant robot dinosaurs in “the frozen reaches” of the map.
The new game features “an entirely new story” and a handful of additional side quests, the site says, along with new enemies to fight and “tundra-themed outfits for you to customise Aloy with”.
It launches on 7 November and will cost $20 (£15).
The Last of Us: Part II
One of this year’s most anticipated games, The Last of Us: Part II was unveiled with a somewhat gruesome trailer.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, the sequel to 2013’s survival game will still be centred around the two main protagonists, Ellie and Joel, but the trailer debuts a host of new characters “that are integral to their next journey”.
The game also features the latest version of the game’s graphics engine, the website says, which has been optimised to work on Sony’s more powerful PS4 Pro.
