3.5/5, Carbuyer ‘‘Co-developed with the Citroen C1 and the Peugeot 107, the Toyota Aygo is cheap to buy and run, and great for nipping around town. But entry level models are sparsely equipped and space in the rear seats is quite limited, it also has a very small boot. Motorway driving can be a struggle too as the engine doesnt have the clout to cope with higher speeds. There’s only one engine available – a three cyclinder, 67 bhp 1.0-litre petrol – and Toyota doesn’t sell the Aygo with a diesel engine. But the car is still cheap to run thanks to a low insurance group rating, and an efficient engine, Toyota also offer a five-year/100,000 mile warranty with the Aygo to ensure you don’t fall foul of any major repair bills during the early part of ownership.’’
3.0/5.0, Auto Express ‘‘Despite a disappointing three-star safety rating from NCAP, the Aygo still manages to return 65.6mpg and its tiny dimensions make it really easy to park.’’
4/5, What Car ‘‘The Toyota Aygo has a perky engine, cute looks and low running costs. It’s also solidly built, but the interior feels cheap and it performs badly out of town. Rivals quickly expose the Aygo’s flaws.
3/5, Auto Car ‘‘The promise of Japanese reliability and French charm is an alluring combination, and although the trim and build are slightly better than you’d expect, the car doesn’t try to cloak it’s budget roots.
