Zoo workers warned after penguin poo discovery

Penguins can fire poo a distance of four feet, a new study has concluded. Japanese researchers found that the birds’ muscular pressure reaches 28 kilopascals, “significantly higher than the pressure the average human can exert when defecating”, says Ars Technica, and can send droppings around 1.2 metres at a pace of 4.5 mph. The researchers warned staff at zoos to be extra careful when approaching these animals, in case they come under fired.
Petrol wheelbarrow breaks speed record
A petrol-driven wheelbarrow has broken a speed record by reaching 36mph. Kevin Nicks put together a moped engine and a broken wheelbarrow to create the fastest barrow in history. The 55-year-old gardener has a track record of curious feats: he is also the proud owner of the world’s fastest shed.

Turtle released after Lego wheelchair treatment
A turtle that used a Lego wheelchair to recover from an injury has been released into the wild. When it was first discovered two years a go, it had a broken shell and underwent surgery in which metal bone plates, sewing clasps and surgical wire were used to keep its shell together. Turtles take longer to heal than many other creatures because their metabolism is slower.
