A man says he won nearly $75,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket he bought because his girlfriend said he needed to work on his spelling. Explaining how he came to choose the winning Crossword ticket, Nikolaus Hamma from British Columbia, said: “I have always played scratch-and-win tickets and my girlfriend told me to play Crossword to help with my spelling.”

Swimmer, 13, becomes youngest to cross Lake Tahoe

Another 13-year-old boy has become the youngest person to swim across California's Lake Tahoe. James Savage completed the 12-mile swim from Cave Rock to the Godfather Mansion in Homewood in under seven hours. He now plans a new challenge: a 21-mile swim.
