Luiz, Alli, Walcott and Ozil star in team of the week

Arsenal were the only team in the top four to win this weekend and are now level with Manchester City on 19 points at the top of the table.

But things are tight at the top of the table. Spurs, held to a draw by West Brom on Saturday, are a point behind the leaders while Liverpool, who blew their chance to go top as they were held to a goalless draw by Manchester United, are a point further back.

Chelsea are also back in the hunt and lie three points behind City and Arsenal after defeating the fallen champions Leicester, who are down in 13th place.

Everton, who held headers City on Saturday, are in fifth on 15 points with United one point behind them. Outside the title race, it was Bournemouth who put in the performance of the week, beating Hull 6-1.

But who were the stars of the weekend's action? Here's The Week's pick of the experts' picks:

Goalkeeper: Maarten Stekelenburg (Everton)

"Stekelenburg's performance against Manchester City was truly outstanding," says Garth Crooks of the BBC. "The 34-year-old's penalty saves appeared routine, in comparison to his general performance. The goalkeeper's display grew to such an extent you began to think the Dutchman was unbeatable."

Defence: Charlie Daniels (Bournemouth), David Luiz (Chelsea), Winston Reid (West Ham)

"There was a goal and an assist for the rangy full-back who is a key part of how this Bournemouth team functions," says the Daily Mirror. "Daniels was dominant on the air, on the ground and pretty much all over the field."

Luiz appears to have settled back in at Chelsea and earns praise from Gab Marcotti of ESPN after his display against Leicester. "He came very close to scoring, kept Jamie Vardy and Ahmed Musa in his pocket and is the vocal leader of Chelsea's new look back three," he says.

West Ham defender Reid makes Alan Smith's team of the week for the Daily Telegraph after he helped the Hammers to victory over Crystal Palace. He was their defensive "lynchpin" and deserves credit, says Crooks of the BBC.

Midfield: Dele Alli (Spurs), Joe Allen (Stoke City), Mesut Ozil (Arsenal), Junior Stanislas (Bournemouth), N'Golo Kante (Chelsea)

Smith of the Telegraph says he "had" to find space for Alli after his goalscoring display for Spurs. It is the first time he has scored in back to back league games since April, notes Goal.com.

The Mirror heaps praise on Allen, who scored twice against Sunderland. "Three goals in four games might necessitate the Welsh Pirlo being rechristened the Welsh Batistuta", it says. "He's helping Stoke City out of a funk and helping restore his reputation after being frozen out at Liverpool."

Ozil was on target as Arsenal beat Swansea and the German was in typical attacking form and "made 53 of his 58 passes against Swansea in the opposition half", notes Goal.com.

Bournemouth midfielder Stanislas was the star player of the weekend, and his two goals and two assists against Hull earned him 21 Fantasy Premier League points. But it could have been more. "The former West Ham kid also hit the woodwork and went close again in a stunning display that saw Bournemouth shred the visiting Tigers to pieces," says the Mirror.

Kante made quite an impression against his old side as Chelsea beat Leicester. "There couldn't have been anyone in either the Chelsea or Leicester camp who thought the midfielder was not superb throughout," says Crooks of the BBC.

Attack: Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Charlie Austin (Southampton)

"With four goals and an assist in Arsenal's last four Premier League games, Theo Walcott is back to his very best form and a brace in the 3-2 victory against Swansea put the Gunners on course for a sixth straight league win," says ESPN. He also hit the woodwork twice and missed out on a hat-trick as a result.

Austin netted twice for Southampton against his former club Burnley and now has four goals in seven games this season. "With Graziano Pelle's departure, Austin was always destined for a bigger role now that he's fully fit," notes the Mirror.
