Premier League transfer news and rumours
Hazard will wait before signing new Chelsea deal
Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard says he will take his time over deciding whether to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Despite having a contract until 2020, Chelsea are “desperate” for Hazard to stay long-term and have reportedly offered a new deal worth more than £300,000 a week.

However, the Blues have missed out on qualification for next season’s Champions League and Hazard wants to see who the club buy before committing. The 27-year-old said: “That’s why I’m taking my time. It is something big, so I will need to think of a lot of things. But one thing is for sure, I’m happy here. I’m waiting for new players next season. You know. We’ll see. I want good players because I want to win the Premier League next season.” (The Daily Telegraph)
Pep: City won’t spend big this summer
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says the Premier League champions will target “one or two” new players this summer but the spending won’t be as big as it has been in previous transfer windows. City spent £278m on nine players in 2017-2018 and Guardiola said: “[We will sign] one or two more, no more. We cannot invest… maybe people don’t believe me but we don’t have the money to invest £300m every season. We invested a lot of money and will invest less in the future, because instead of doing it in two or three transfer windows, we did it in one. We needed it for the age [of the squad].” (Sky Sports)
Toby Alderweireld: Tottenham to Manchester United
United are “confident” of signing Belgium international Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham. The 29-year-old has rejected Spurs’ latest contract offer and could move to United in a deal worth £40m. Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are also interested. (London Evening Standard)
Matthijs de Ligt: Ajax to Tottenham
If Alderweireld joins United then Tottenham will use the money to sign Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt. The 18-year-old defender already has five international caps for Holland. (London Evening Standard)
Sanchez signs new Spurs contract
One Tottenham defender who definitely won’t be leaving any time soon is Davinson Sanchez. The Colombian - who is the club’s record signing - has signed a new deal at Spurs until 2024. (ESPN)
Jean Seri: Nice to Arsenal/Chelsea
Arsenal have reportedly held talks with Nice star Jean Seri about a summer transfer to north London. However, it’s claimed that Chelsea are favourites to sign the 26-year-old midfielder who is valued at £40m. (Daily Mirror)
Maguire to decide future after the World Cup
Leicester City and England defender Harry Maguire will decide on his future after this summer’s World Cup. The 25-year-old, who is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s squad today, is a target for Manchester City. (Daily Mirror)
Leicester target Pereira and Roberts
Leicester City have two new players in their sights. Porto right-back Ricardo Pereira is a £25m target and the Foxes are also keen on Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts, who has been on loan at Celtic. (Daily Mail)
Kieran Tierney: Celtic to Atletico Madrid
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid will send scouts to watch Celtic defender Kieran Tierney in the Scottish Cup final against Motherwell on Saturday. The Scotland left-back, who is valued at £20m, is also a target for Manchester United, Tottenham and Bournemouth. (The Sun)
Tom Heaton: Burnley to West Ham United
West Ham are keen on Burnley and England goalkeeper Tom Heaton. The Hammers need to find a replacement for Joe Hart, who returns to Manchester City after his loan, and £10m-rated Heaton could solve the London club’s “problem position”. (The Sun)
