Balague tweeted: “Neymar thought seriously about leaving PSG. He has not been the happiest and that suspicion created a series of press stories about him and Real Madrid. Real kept open ears/mind about it. He also wanted to leave FCB [Barcelona] after one season. It takes him a while to settle.
“But now after chatting to Tuchel last Sunday, a meeting described as ‘fantastic’, Neymar is convinced his future has to remain in Paris.” (Sky Sports)
Eden Hazard: Chelsea to Manchester City
Two days after scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester United, Eden Hazard is being linked with a “stunning” move away from Stamford Bridge. The Belgian is reportedly Manchester City’s No. 1 target, with Pep Guardiola plotting a £100m bid. (Daily Star)
Shearer: Chelsea must keep Hazard
Regardless of whether Antonio Conte leaves the Chelsea manager role, the club must keep star attacker Eden Hazard, according to Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer. Speaking after Hazard won the FA Cup for the London club on Saturday, Shearer said: “Chelsea need to sort out Eden Hazard’s future, and try to convince him to stay at the club. He showed again he is a game changer and he is good enough to go wherever he wants to.” (BBC)
Al Mubarak: new signings must improve City squad
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak says that if the club are to bring in new faces, they must improve the standards of the squad. Speaking to City TV, Al Mubarak said: “In terms of improving the squad, we have had a lot of learning in the past. Today, we have a superbly high-quality squad. You don’t get to 100 points without a full, high-quality squad, which is what we have. Any additions have to improve the squad. This is my biggest learning from the years of chairing this club. When winning, bringing in new players is a very important decision because you have a winning formula that has just won.” (Sky Sports)
Pogba: PSG move does not appeal to me
Paul Pogba has admitted that he could depart Manchester United this summer - but the midfielder has ruled out a move to Paris. When asked about leaving Old Trafford, Pogba said “you’re never sure of anything”, but one thing he looks very sure of is not joining PSG. “Walking on the Parc des Princes? With a club, no for sure,” he told French TV channel Canal+. “Honestly, it doesn’t appeal to me. My father supported Marseille and so did my mum. Paris wasn’t really in my daily life.” (Daily Mail)
Matic: United need the right signings
Despite losing the FA Cup final against Chelsea, Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic is confident that the club can compete for next season’s Premier League and Champions League titles - with the right recruitment. He said: “We need players with some experience to bring more qualities to our team. After that, we can fight for the title and the Champions League also. I think that we have improved.” (BBC)
Mourinho targets Alderweireld and Bale
Nemanja Matic says Manchester United need to sign players with the right “qualities”, and his boss Jose Mourinho may be planning to do just that. According to reports, Mourinho will spend more than £250m on rebuilding the United squad, with Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld and Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale top of his shopping list. Other targets include Alex Sandro (Juventus), Fred (Shakhtar Donetsk), Jorginho (Napoli) and Jean Michael Seri (Nice). (Daily Mirror)
Marouane Fellaini: Manchester United to AC Milan
One player who could be heading for the Old Trafford exit is Marouane Fellaini. Italian club AC Milan want to sign Fellaini on a free transfer, and Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso is said to have called the Belgium midfielder to discuss a potential three-year deal. (The Times)
Zielinski set for new Napoli deal
Reports in Italy say that Liverpool target Piotr Zielinski is close to signing a new contract with Napoli. The Poland international, 24, has been offered a deal until 2023. (The Sun)
Jamie Vardy: Leicester City to Atletico Madrid
If Antoine Griezmann does leave Atletico Madrid for Barcelona, the Spanish side might line up Leicester City star Jamie Vardy as his replacement. The striker scored 20 goals for the Foxes this season and has been named in England’s World Cup squad. (The Guardian)
